Meet the Surgeon

Mouza T. Goova, MD is Lackawanna County’s only Fellowship-trained bariatric surgeon, practicing at Regional Hospital of Scranton. Her areas of specialization include Lap-BandÒ, laparoscopic gastric bypass and laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. Dr.Goova is a strong proponent of patient support both before and after bariatric surgery.

Dr. Goova attended medical school at Saint Petersburg State Medical University, Russia. She completed her General Surgery residency in New York City at the Harlem Hospital Center at Columbia University. Her Fellowship training in Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery was performed at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. She has extensively researched, published, and presented at both national and international conferences on morbid obesity and the benefits of Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Goova is certified by the American Board of Surgery.
