Regional Hospital of Scranton Heart Heath Fair
features free screenings, tours and demonstrations
Regional Hospital of Scranton understands you do everything you can to stay healthy and wants to be your partner in maximizing your heart health. As part of this commitment, Regional is sponsoring the Spring in to Heart Health Fair on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the hospital's McGowan Conference Room located on the second floor. This heart fair will offer tools and information you can use to meet that goal.
Heart disease is the number one cause of death in the United States. Although genetics cannot be controlled, a lifestyle that includes maintaining a healthy weight, regular exercise, not smoking and eating a healthy diet can go a long way to preserving heart health.
Patients who experienced cardiac events will share their stories and discuss their treatment, recovery and what they are doing now to help create healthier futures.
Free screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol and body mass index will be offered and clinical staff from Regional and Moses Taylor Hospitals will offer information and education on various medical specialties and how these areas work together to promote heart health and diagnose and treat many heart conditions.
Visitors will have the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes tour of the hospital's new Cardiac Catheterization Lab. Professionals will share information on the new Heart Rhythm Lab, Interventional Cardiology, Peripheral Vascular Services, Surgery, Emergency Cardiac Care, Women's Heart Health, Cardiac Rehabilitation, the Diabetes Clinic, Regional Bariatrics (weight loss surgery) and Cardiology physicians.
In addition, hospital dieticians will demonstrate how to prepare heart healthy meals and snacks and educational materials and light refreshments will be available to all visitors
Convenient free parking is available. Reservations are not needed. For more information about the Spring in to Heart Health Fair, please call 570.340.5024.
