Penn State Hershey Medical Center Neurosurgeon Joins Medical Staff at
Regional Hospital of Scranton and opens new office
Neurosurgeon Akash D. Agarwal, M.D., an assistant professor of Neurosurgery at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pa., has joined the medical staff of Regional Hospital of Scranton and is accepting patients at his office in Suite 102 on the first floor of the hospital’s General Services Building at 743 Jefferson Avenue, Scranton.
Dr. Agarwal has also rejoined the neuroscience team at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and the staff of Penn State Hershey Neurosurgery at Wyoming Valley.
Board-certified in neurosurgery, Dr. Agarwal earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Boston University and his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in neurosurgery at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and served an internship in general surgery at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, New York City. He also completed a fellowship in endovascular neurosurgery and interventional neurosurgery at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
Dr. Agarwal most recently served as a staff neurosurgeon at High Point Regional Medical Center, High Point, N.C., and as a member of the Carolina Neurosurgery and Spine Associates in Charlotte, N.C. He also served as a staff neurosurgeon at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital from August 2007 to September 2011.
